Downtown Jam – frequently asked questions

1) how can I find people that like to play the same music I do?
come to several sessions and meet and jam with the club members; over time you’ll find others who share similar tastes in music, allowing you to organize your own sessions

2) can I be set up with a good group?
everyone wants to be in a good group; we do not distinguish between good and not good

3) can I bring in my own gear?
absolutely, but we have it all here

4) can I bring in my own songs?
absolutely, but make sure you have enough chord/lyric-form copies for the other members in session

5) how can I be in a band and get gigs?
you have to form your own band and get your own gigs -some members form 'charity' bands and perform for good causes

6) what is the best way to use the club?
leave your ego at the door, and come in to have fun -jam a lot and try different session times -learn the Downtown Jam songbooks

7) i'm looking for a situation
feel free to create a situation! if you have any preferences for styles of music, or would like to play with a certain quality of singers and players, then you can get some jammers together and book a studio
